About The Department

D.C.B Girls’ College is a premier institution of women education in Assam. This institution plays a vital role in promoting women education in entire Assam. The Chemistry Department Plays a vital role in offering Major and General courses in the undergraduate level under Dibrughar University as well as in higher secondary level. The department successfully maintains its pass percentage 90-100% in Major and 75-95% in General courses every year. Though, we have a fewer faculty of three members, the  Department has maintained its result with a good percentile records after hard effort of each and every teacher. Chemistry subject was introduced as one of the important subjects in UG level in the college from 1987. The Department has its own fully equipped Laboratories with required and with a good number of sophisticated instruments. In the very beginning, the Department was initiated by Dr. Dilip Ch. Bora only and later on it was enriched and blossomed by Dr. Jinamoni Bhuyan (Present Principal of our college), Mrs. Rupjyoti Stafford and Mr. Traun Saikia. All of them are very efficient and laborious and strongly dedicated to their goals. Subsequently, we were able to start the “Honours” Course in our department from 2011 onwards. By the earnest efforts of all the faculty members, our Department produces a good numbers of brilliant and quality students, every year. Under the stupendous guidance of faculty members, the Department has been growing up by leaps and bounds.

Vision of the Department

A teacher is always responsible to his/her students and to the society. The visions of our department are:

1. To focus on the background matters and to prepare our students for future life to carry a good information of chemistry to the society.
2. To make the subject popular among the school level students to attract them toward this field as well as to develop a scientific view in them.
3. To grow consciousness among people around us and in future generation about the environment.
