COMPUTER LAB:

With the introduction of Computer Application as a compulsory subject in the BA/BSc Semester Programme of Dibrugarh University, the college has established two well furnished Computer Labs equipped with  PCs, bundled with latest software and operating systems.

HOSTEL:

The Devi Nivas provides comfortable and safe lodgings to a limited number of outstation students. Boarders will be in the care of the Hostel Warden and Matrons who reside on campus and are accessible at all times.

      Hostel admission and Regulations:

  • Only students from outside Jorhat may apply for hostel admission in the separate forms attached with the prospectus.

  • Hostel seats are allotted purely on merit.

  • The Hostel Admission list will be displayed after college admissions are completed.

  • Selected students should report to the Warden along with admission receipts.

  • Old boarders must take Hostel admission on the day of admission, failing which their seats may stand forfeited.

  • Mess dues are to be paid for the whole year except during summer, winter and puja vacations.

CAREER COUNSELLING AND PLACEMENT CELL:

The Career Counselling and Placement Cell is established with a view to assist students to discover their aptitudes and talents, to make the right subject choices in college, and career choices in the future. A team of dedicated teacher-counsellors are available for academic counselling as well as for consultation and advice on personal and social issues. The cell over the years has organised pre and post admission orientations, career fairs, skill enhancement and personality development workshops, coaching classes for competitive examinations, presentations by professional career counsellors and HRD personnel from the corporate sector.

The Placement Cell attracts a number of companies every year from various sectors of the corporate world for on-campus placement. Besides, students are groomed for interviews and group discussions.

HEALTH CARE:

Basic first aid facilities are available in the campus. Qualified doctors and nurses are on call to provide emergency medical attention to students during college hours. The college has a tie-up with Sanjivani Hospital which is a mere five minutes walking distance from the campus. Students and the staff can avail on production of the college Identity Cards, a rebate of 15% on all health care services rendered by the nursing home except the cost on medicines.

YOGA & MEDITATION:

The Yoga and Meditation programme of the college under the supervision of a trained instructor aims at developing learners mentally and physically so that they may overcome the rising level of stress among them and perform well academically.

VALUE EDUCATION:

The College believes that inculcating the right values to the students would enable them to confront the rigours and stress of the modern complex world. Symposiums on values and art of living are organised on a regular basis.

STUDENTS UNION:

The DCB Girls’ College Students Union comprising of elected members and nominated class representatives is the ideal training ground for grooming future leadership and team work. It coordinates between the college and the students and conducts all co-curricular activities under the guidance of teachers.

COLLEGE MAGAZINE:

The college magazine “DCBIAN,” is brought out annually to encourage writing and literary activities among the students. Each section of the magazine is edited by elected Student-Editors under the supervision of teacher-in-charges. Besides this, every department publishes their own journals, periodicals, wall-magazines and News letters.

NCC:

DCB Girls’ College National Cadet Corps is affiliated to the 64 Assam Girls’ Battalion. About 130 cadets are enrolled in the army wing which offers training to students in personality development. Student cadets have opportunities to participate in Republic and Independence Day parades, mountaineering, shooting and other adventure camps. Over the years our cadets have proved their mettle in the regional and national level NCC camps, participated in the prestigious Republic Day parade at Janpath, New Delhi and represented the country abroad in Youth Exchange Programmes.

GAMES and SPORTS:

Besides striving for academic excellence, the college also assigns a high degree of importance to games and sports, both indoor and outdoor. At the time of admission weightage is given to students with outstanding sports records (district level and above) and the college supports and encourages players with concessions as well as TA and entry fees for students participating in tournaments.

PERFORMING ARTS:

The College recognises and encourages its enormous pool of students in the performing arts. Artists from the college have proved their worth time and again in the prestigious Inter College Youth Festival of Dibrugarh University, state, national and international events. A few seats are reserved for students with outstanding cultural records.
